Curation Curated explores the art of exhibition-making, from the perspective of an amateur art lover.

When I began visiting museums and galleries in my early twenties, I knew very little about the art world. But I quickly realised that I was as interested in curation—how the art was presented—as I was in the art itself.

Great curation creates meaning, but its impact is too often ephemeral. Once an exhibition closes, the records that remain (postcards, catalogs, or online archives) often focus on the artworks and objects featured. All the thought that went into the spatial design, sequencing, and explanation of the work is unavailable to those who didn't experience it in person.

This newsletter aims to counter that, by documenting and analysing instances of spatial storytelling where the curation itself is doing something special. If you're a curator or culture worker, perhaps my posts will give you some insight into how a regular visitor experiences your work. And if you're a casual gallery-goer like me, I hope you'll enjoy the exposure to artists and exhibitions you might have missed otherwise.
